There’s a simple, but radical idea that’s gaining traction in humanitarian aid. It’s one that we find particularly inspiring: The best way to help people affected by a disaster isn’t to ship them emergency supplies from the other side of the planet – just give people money, no strings attached.
Sempo builds technology to help NGOs spend less resources finding vulnerable people, and more resourcesempowering them out of a crisis. We use algorithms similar to those used to detect credit card fraud to identify and verify affected people during a disaster. We then use a combination of cryptocurrency and local payment providers to get relief funds directly to people so that they can immediately buy what they need.
We solve beneficiary identification, cash disbursement and program monitoring in one seamless cash platform.
